  • More Information

Note: DO NOT INSTALL SITE MANAGER!!!

You have the license to Install GradeQuick 7 on any computer you use (home and/or school). There are limited licenses for GradeQuick Palm for MS and HS users. Contact Tim McFadden by e-mail mcfaddt@rps205.com to determine if a license is available. Note that the IT department does not support the installation of Palm type devices. The Palm application only allows you to synch on only one computer. MS and HS users…Do not install Site Manager. This is meant for buildings with a network administrator. It will disable your access to the GradeQuick program.

Before installing: Determine the version of Adobe Acrobat (if present) If you do not have the program or the version is lower than version 5, select Adobe Acrobat from the installation menu. You can determine the version by going to the district home page and clicking on the Curriculum SPI link in the top menu. Open one of the files associated with your grade/subject. If the file does not open, you do not have Adobe Acrobat. If the file does open, watch the title screen or click Help, Click About Adobe to determine the version of Acrobat on your system.

The CD is an autoplay CD. These means that in most computers, the installation should self start and present you with a menu. Should that not occur, double click my computer. Double click the CD drive. (This may start the install) Double Click the Windows Folder. Double Click the file named CDROM. Please double check to be certain that the installation was successful by opening the program. If it asks for a registration number, repeat the install. This rarely occurs, but may take several attempts.

You may experience difficulty installing the software at school due to user restrictions. Ask that the building secretary request IT to install the software. Additionally, if Deep Freeze is present, do not save to your C: Drive. You can test this by entering one student on the list. Save and Close. Reboot the computer. If the student shows up Deep Freeze is not present.

Note: If you teach in more than one building or share a home computer with another teacher in the district, the built in school name feature is troublesome. Additional buildings that have concerns are Wilson and the Fresh Start Program. RSTA was an original licensee, so the following procedure is legitimate. You may change your registration name by following the instructions below. The revised registration name will then appear in GradeQuick.
Enter your user name and activation code exactly as it is written below, using the same letters (uppercase/lowercase), punctuation (period, commas, etc.) and spaces. Your revised user name and activation code are as follows:

User name: Rockford Board of Education
    Activation code: 7BBB65534

You may enter your code in GradeQuick at any time by selecting Options--> Register GradeQuick.

  • Do not visit Jackson Software’s site to upgrade. The district only has a license for version 7. Once the trial period runs out, your files will be unreadable by version 7.
  • Always use multiple backups. Floppy disks are undependable. I suggest a flash drive, the teacher directory on the server, and last resort a floppy. REMEMBER . . . Multiple Backups. Also, consider printing a hard copy periodically.
  • Consider the possibility of a student accidentally deleting the file if they have access to the computer.
  • Discuss with your principal their requirements for your building. Some may require you also keep a traditional grade book.
