Grades K-4 Curriculum Guides
| | These Curriculum Guides are designed to assist teachers in their curriclum planning. Essential Questions, Illinois Learning Standards, Social Studies content and skills are included, as well as reading strategies and skills. They contain a "menu" of options for classroom activities, and much more! During the summer of 2009, grade level curriculum committees will gather to create Curriculum Maps to guide teachers further, with a month-by-month outline. If you are interested in working with the Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator on these maps, please contact Kathy at CassioK@rps205.com. |

| | Kindergarten Curriculum Guide | | This curriculum guide is intended to give teachers an overview of the many options for teaching "My World." The Core Lessons are those that should be taught. Extend Lessons are designed for enrichment or contain supplemental materials that can be used outside of Social Studies time. The program will also complement instruction in Reading, Writing, and Math, as well as the other content areas. When Social Studies is taught within the Reading Block, students will make powerful connections to Reading, Writing, and the content area of Social Studies. You may teach the units in the order given or you may select a diffferent order for the units. Just be sure to complete a unit once you begin to ensure students get the "big picture" of the essential question/s. |
