Title 1 Goals

Goal 1: To support Title 1 schools as they endeavor to improve student performance in reading, writing, and math. |
Activities:
- Biweekly on-site visits:
- Understanding building concerns
- Problem solving
- Assisting schools in decision-making in accordance with their Title 1 plan
- Following progress of Title 1 identified children
- Twice yearly meetings to review:
- Parent Program
- Application/Budget/Amendments
- Professional Development
- Title 1 Procedures
- Quarterly assessments, student coding, and interventions
- Data Analysis:
- Providing training for Professional Development
- Producing quarterly Progress Reports
- Helping schools design building evaluation based on Title 1 plan
- Promote timely intervention:
- Extended-Day
- Summer School
- Tutorials (including homeless students)

Goal 2: To support Title 1 schools in engaging parents as partners in the education of their children |
Activities:
- At School Level
- Surveying Parent needs
- Encouraging and documenting Parent Education
- Informing Parent of benefits of Title 1
- Supporting school compacts
- At District Level:
- Facilitating Parent participation in Title 1
- Parent Advisory Council
- Providing educational opportunities for parents to enhance involvement through the Title 1 Parent Center(i.e. computer training, Lightspan, library and special training opportunities)
- Collaborating with other District parenting initiatives(i.e. Lighted Libraries, Parents Again Forum)
- Referring Parents to community resources(i.e. GED/ESL)

Goal 3: To support Title 1 schools in the effective integration of resources to achieve Goals 1 and 2. |
Activities:
- Budget:
- Allocating money to schools in accordance with Federal Guidelines
- Ordering and documentation of expenditures in alignment with individual school plans
- Communication:
- Sharing information with stakeholders about Title 1 Program(i.e. posters, brochures, newsletters, and quarterly progress reports)
- Facilitating communication among parents, schools, District, and the community at large
- Assisting schools in seeking and utilizing parent and community support
- Participating in District level decision-making impacting Title 1 Schools
- Professional Development opportunities:
- Planning Professional Development Days
- Coordinating participation in statewide conference
- Training at school and District level by Title 1 Curriculum Coordinators
- Articulating District-wide goals through participation and involvement in District-wide committees
- Interpreting No Child Left Behind legislation and assisting schools in meeting those requirements
