The After School Achievement Program (ASAP) at Rockford Public Schools allows students to participate in supervised fun and safe activities, including academic help in reading and math, social activities, and recreational activities. As a part of the No Child Left Behind Act and funded nationally by 21st Century Community Learning Center Program grants through Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the U.S. Department of Education, ASAP is a local, collaborative effort between the Rockford Public Schools and community partners, including museums and agencies, to provide after school academic and enrichment activities to students, grades 1-8 at 17 sites.

ASAP at RPS provides a safe environment and help to students and their families through youth development, literacy, science & technology and recreation programs that are designed to reinforce and complement the school-day curriculum. The program increases participating students’ achievement in reading and math. This carries over into success in all other academic areas and enriches and expands classroom instruction by providing assistance in individual areas needing improvements.
