Enrollment for 2008-2009: Elementary and Secondary |
- On February 13th the Rockford School Board approved a new Zone Assignment Plan based on zones for middle schools and high schools. The zone plan requires incoming 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th grade students to attend their Attendance Zone schools.
- Students who are New to the District and enrolling into 6th, 7th, 9th or 10th for the 2008-2009 school year must call The Family Resource Center to schedule an appointment where parents will be required to fill out an application and provide required paperwork. These students will be assigned to their zone school. Parents must bring two proofs of address and original birth certificate.
All other grades are under "Choice" which means parents are able to select a school assignment based on choice of school and seat availability. Each child has a neighborhood school to which he or she has a priority to attend; however, seats may not be available at the time of enrollment. When seats are not available at the elementary level, the child can be placed on a waiting list for that school. The waitlist is moved throughout the summer up through the Friday before school starts. Families are notified by mail as soon as their child is moved off the waitlist.
DOCUMENTATION required at the time of application for assignment includes: Original Birth Certificate, Passport or Visa (photocopies not accepted) Two Proofs of Address (list of acceptable proofs of address) Transcript Information from previous School (if applicable) State required ”In Good Standing” Student Transfer Information Form (if coming from another Illinois public school) Current Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for students receiving special education services, if applicable. |
