Enrollment for 2008-2009: Elementary and Secondary

On February 13th of 2007 the Rockford School Board approved a new Zone Assignment Plan based on zones for middle schools and high schools. The zone plan requires incoming 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th grade students to attend their attendance Zone schools. Students entering zone grades will be assigned to their zone school based on their home address.

All other grades are under "Choice" which means parents are able to select a school assignment based on choice of school and seat availability. Each child has a neighborhood school to which he or she has a priority to attend; however, seats may not be available at the time of enrollment. When seats are not available at the elementary level, the child can be placed on a waiting list for that school. The waitlist is moved throughout the summer up through the Friday before school starts. Families are notified by mail as soon as their child is moved off the waitlist.

Assignments for all grades need to be made in person by a guardian or parent at the Family Resource Center, 978 Haskell Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103.

Parents must bring two proofs of address and original birth certificate.
Required paperwork must be provided at the time of enrollment (see below for specifics).
