Assignments fall into two categories:

On February 13th, 2007 the Rockford Public School Board approved a new Zone Assignment Plan that will be phased in over the next four years. The zone plan will be affecting students going into 6th and 9th grade during the 2007-2008 school year.

All 5th and 8th grade students currently enrolled in Rockford Public Schools received a letter in the mail notifying them of their assignment for 6th and 9th grade to their Zone school.
