Information Center |
The Family Resource Center is an information center where parents can obtain materials about each school in District 205.Individual school profiles, brochures and school report cards are available to assist parents in making school selections.
Family Resource Specialists answer questions and work with families to assign students to a school and provide them with bus transportation information.In addition, they provide families with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) school transfer and tutoring assistance (if applicable).Bilingual (Spanish) staff and materials are available to assist limited English proficient families. |

FRC Parent workshops are held throughout the school year to increase parental awareness and improve family/school relationships, school involvement and student achievement

Community Outreach |
| The Family Resource Center serves as an informational network and works in collaboration with the community and social service agencies.This service offers families a "one-stop" approach to gathering information about school options and the basic community services families may require. |

| Student records may be obtained at the Family Resource Center for any individual who no longer attends a Rockford Public School. Please call 815-966-3250 ext. 4511 or click on the student records link in the website navigator to the left for more information. |

STUDENT ENROLLMENT for 2009-2010 School Year
KINDERGARTEN AND MONTESSORI PRE-K ENROLLMENT
Early Enrollment for Kindergarten and Montessori Pre-K is now closed. No more applications will be taken for Montessori Pre-K.
Enrollment for Kindergarten will re-open on April 6th and assignments will be done on a first come first served basis. Enrollments must be done in person by a parent or guardian at the Family Resource Center, 978 Haskell Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103.
Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2009 for Kindergarten.
Children who hear or speak a language other than English must accompany the parent for a language assessment.
OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR ELEMENTARY AND 12TH GRADE
Open enrollment for elementary grades and 12th grade will begin April 6th at the Family Resource Center, 978 Haskell Avenue, Rocckford, IL 61103. Assignments will done on a first come first served basis. Please keep in mind that we will be busy on this day because it is a first come first served process. Come prepared to wait. There is no need to bring your children unless they speak or listen to another language at home, in which case a language assessment is required by law and you must bring your child.
ENROLLMENT FOR ZONE GRADES: 6th,7th,8th,9th,10th, and 11th
If your child will be entering a zone grade (6,7,8,9,10, or 11) there is no need to come on April 6th. This day is usually very busy and wait times are very long. Zone grades will have an automatic assignment to their zone school so these assignments can be done at anytime. Please call our office for more information, 815-967-8070.
STUDENT ENROLLMENT for 2008-2009 School Year
NEW or RETURNING to the District All assignments of students to a Rockford Public School take place at the Family Resource Center . School assignments for grades K through 5, and 8 are based upon parent choice and seat availability. For grades 6, 7, 9 and 10, students will be assigned to the school located in their residence zone. (On February 13th, 2007 the Rockford Public School Board approved a new Zone Assignment Plan. The zone plan went into effect during the 2007-2008 school year affecting only 6th and 9th graders. In the 2008-2009 school year, it affected 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th graders. The zone plan will continue to phase in additional grades until Middle and High Schools are completely zoned).
Assignments for non-zone grades are made on a first come first served basis. Families can select a seat at any school with available seats. Zone grade students will automatically be assigned to their zone school based on their home address. Please see below for required documentation.
Currently Enrolled Students
All 5th and 8th grade students currently enrolled in Rockford Public Schools should have received a letter in the mail notifying them of their assignment for 6th and 9th grade to their Zone school for the 2009-2010 school year. If you did not receive a letter by the end of February 2009, please call the Family Resource Center to verify your address and to find out what your school assignment will be.
Students in all other grades who are currently enrolled in the District will automatically be assigned to the next grade at the school they currently attend. All students will be required to register at their school in August 2009. Further information will be listed later.

2) TWO acceptable proofs of residency as listed below.
1 OF THESE: Mortgage Closing Papers (intent to purchase will not be accepted) Signed and dated Lease & last month's (within 30 days) receipt of payment Letter of Residence (living with a District resident-District resident must provide two proofs of address-form available at FRC)
