In Service Travel Credit for Teachers
| |
| Teachers may seek salary credit for educational tours that enhance the teacher's knowledge and skills in the teacher's area of certification, endorsement, or teaching assignment. Article 28 of the REA agreement provides the opportunity for certified staff to earn one (1) hour of semester credit for every seven (7) consecutive days of travel (not counting travel days to and from your destination).
Applications for pre-approval of educational tours are available in each school office, the Human Resources Department, or may be downloaded from the link below.
Completed applications must be submitted to the Human Resources Department for review by the District Travel Committee. Applications must be received by the District Travel Committee prior to the tour in order to be considered for salary credit. Upon completion of your trip, a detailed report consisting of educational applications, lesson plans, etc. is to be submitted to the Travel Committee for final approval.
The "Educational Tour Check List" can help guide and assist you in submission of your Pre-approval and Final Report.
Upon pre and final approvals, Teachers may earn one semester hour of credit. The cumulative total amount of credit shall not exceed ten (10) semester hours.
A SAMPLE TRAVEL REPORT IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT.
The Travel Committee is represented by staff and administrators. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, contact Human Resources at 966-3145. |
