The Rockford Public Schools Health Services department is responsible for delivery of a public health program for all school children and school personnel in the district. The purpose of the school health program is to prevent or minimize health problems, so that each child is given the opportunity to reach his/her fullest potential. The Health Service Staff has a strong belief that a healthy student has a greater opportunity to learn. As certified school nurses, we advocate for students, provide health and referral services in order to optimize their education.
This annual report of Health Service is designed to be an instrument of accountability for the time spent in the various responsibilities of school nursing. This document also includes the main functions of school nursing which are necessary for the safety and well-being of students, in addition to duties required by local, state and federal guidelines.
