If you are an individual wishing to donate computers that meet the above specifications, please contact Computers for Schools at (815) 316-4580.
    Donating Printers
Printers (with the exception of the donation of multiple printers from a business) should be donated through Computers for Schools. We would accept (through Computers for Schools) HP laser printers of recent vintage that have a working Ethernet connection.

The district does not accept the donation of inkjet printers or donations of any printers needing repair.
    Staff Members Seeking Donated Computers
Before requesting computers from Computers for Schools or directly from a business source(through Jeff Bowman) you must have a funding source identified to cover the $71.71 licensing fee per computer. DO NOT pay the optional $10 fee for Windows 2000 Professional to Computers for Schools. That product will be installed by the district through a program from Microsoft. This will cover the virus software, LanDesk, Exchange and Server licenses, and MS Office licenses. This is REQUIRED software.

Should a building be considering a lab of donated computers, please consider contacting Facilities to review the electrical and connectivity issues that may arise. All donated computers must meet minimum specs:
  • Pentium P4 running at 1.8 ghz or above
  • 40 gigabyte hard drive (minimum)
  • 512 mb RAM (minimum)
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Video Card
  • Sound card
  • Network Card
  • Form for requesting computers from Computers for Schools
PTOs wishing to donate hardware or software
PTOs wishing to donate new hardware or software need to provide a check to Rockford Public Schools for approved hardware or software. The Purchasing Department will then order the items from the vendor.
