17 Sep 08: During the recent Rockford School District EENS test, several subscribers received multiple text messages on their cellular phone as the result of a data corruption error. The vendor (MIS Sciences Corporation) will reimburse the subscribers for any excessive text charges incurred as a result of the error.

The vendor has set up a web page to provide you with information on obtaining a refund for text message overage charges, you can find additional information at MIS Sciences.


14 Aug 08: As of today, there have been a total of 1300 people who have signed up for the Emergency Electronic Notification System (EENS) operated by District 205. Registration can be accomplished by visiting the Rockford Schools Web Page (www.rps205.com) and clicking on the RPS EENS link at the top of the page. Registration can be accomplished on any computer having internet access or by visiting District 205 Family Resource Center at 978 Haskell Ave, Rockford, IL 61103 to use one of the two computers available for public use. - 29 Jul 08: Rockford Public Schools (RPS) has contracted with “eAlert”® developed by MIS Sciences Corporation, of Burbank, California to operate the RPS Emergency Electronic Notification System (EENS). The RPS EENS requires parents and guardians to self-register in order to receive emergency notifications from the school district. A list of common questions and answers (Q and A) is contained here in the RPS EENS English version Q and A sheet and Spanish version of RPS EENS Q and A. This system should be operational by school registration time. For further information, contact your local school or visit the district web page for additional information. - 29 May 08: Nine Requests For Proposal’s (RFP) have been received for the “Emergency Electronic Notification System” (EENS) the district is currently researching. No further RFP’s will be accepted. Thank you to all who submitted a proposal.

- 12 May 08: The “Report It” system to date has received a total of two tips. One anonymous tip was found to be valid resulting in the confiscation of a knife and the subsequent suspension of the student who possessed it. The second report was not found to be valid and is no longer under investigation.

- 2 May 08: The "Electronic Notification Request For Proposal" (RFP) has been released via Demand Star today. Vendors may view the RFP at that site or by selecting the Notification System Request for Proposal link.

- 24 Apr 08: The “Electronic Emergency Notification System” recommendation went before the Rockford School Board Operation’s Committee for additional comment and discussion on April 14, 2008. Questions were answered regarding specific policy that would be implemented throughout to insure system utilization is consistent with the EENC committee’s recommendation. The Operations Committee recommended this issue move forward and the “Request for Purchase” (RFP) be generated to insure timely solution implementation. As of April 24th, a draft RFP has been generated, with a targeted date for vendor release of the RFP via “Demand Star” no later than May 2nd, 2008. - 21 Apr 08:
"Report It" electronic crime tip system was launched today. Designed to be a "pre-emptive" tool, the system exists to assist the public in reporting incidents before they occur. Developed as a collaborative effort with Crime Stoppers and Rockford Police to provide an additional avenue of communication between the public and the school district to help curb disruptive behavior within the schools. Information leading to an arrest, suspension or both is eligible to receive a reward through the "Crime Stoppers" program. Proceed to the district's main page for more details.

- 11 Mar 08: The Electronic Notification Committee’s recommendations went before the Rockford School Board’s Operations committee last night. The Operations committee forwarded the recommendation onto the March 18th full School Board meeting.
