- Sep 14, 2007: Thanks to the generosity of the Swedish American Medical Foundation with a donation of $6000.00 to the Rockford School District, our school nurses will become better equipped with trauma packs to provide “ground zero” medical aid in the event disaster strikes. These Nurse Trauma Kits support district 205’s Disaster Preparedness Initiative. As a recipient of the 2006 U.S. Department of Education Emergency Response and Crisis Management grant, the District is working to improve its disaster preparedness stance. The nurse kits bring us closer to this goal and were not included as part of the DOE grant. John Mecklenburg, Executive V.P. for the foundation was extremely gracious in extending his organization’s support. There was no hesitation on the foundation’s part to assist the district with this effort. The Rockford School Board is extremely pleased and proud of the partnership between the foundation, the district and the community at large. Donations such as this directly benefit the citizens of Rockford and prove the existence of the strong bond forged between the community and school district.
