Food Service in the Rockford Public Schools Annually, the Food Service Department of the Rockford Public Schools serves 952,000 breakfasts, 2,929,200 lunches, resulting in 3,881,200 meals served per year. There are 18 production kitchens and 34 satellite schools to serve the students of District 205. In addition to serving lunch, breakfast is also available at 51 schools. There are also a number of after school programs in operation for which the food service department serves approximately 170,400 snacks.

Elementary Schools Examples of entrees at the elementary schools include chicken patties, barbecue beef, creamed turkey, cheeseburgers, spaghetti and chili, among other entrees . In addition to the main dish, a vegetable, fruit and milk is also offered at each meal. Past audits conducted by the Illinois State Board of Education on the nutritional analysis of our menus, have consistently produced positive results. |
Secondary Schools The secondary schools have additional entrees and dining options, such as a potato bars, salad and deli bars, soups, as well as a wide variety of a'la carte items from which to choose.

Catering Services CATERING IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR DISTRICT FUNCTIONS! ! ! The Food Service Department also has an outstanding catering program for special meetings/functions, featuring such specialties as fruit & vegetable trays, lasagna, stuffed pork chop dinner, savory cheese and luscious iced cinnamon rolls!
