Fast Facts About Food Service |
The Food Service Department has a proud history of serving nutritious and delicious meals to the students, staff and guests of the Rockford Public Schools.
We have 20 production kitchens and 33 satellite schools, employing approximately 250 Food Service professionals.
Daily, we serve approximately 2,781 breakfasts and 15,083 lunches, and 16,500 students who receive reduced-price lunches.
63% of the students in the Rockford Public Schools are eligible for free/reduced meals.
Parents have the option of charging their student's meals on the Internet, using Cafe Prepay. Our cash register system also allows parents to receive a printout of the student's cafeteria purchases upon request.
Our internal Catering service offers a wide variety of delicious foods, ranging from gourmet snacks to full-course meals. Last year, almost $20,000 was generated from catering. A revised, updated catering book with new food items was recently issued to all departments. |
