Food Service in the Rockford Public Schools
The Food Service Department of the Rockford Public Schools serves over 2.5 million lunches each year. There are 20 production kitchens and 33 satellite schools to serve the students of District 205. In addition to serving lunch, breakfast is also available at 28 elementary schools. There are also a number of after school programs in operation.

Elementary Schools
Examples of entrees at the elementary schools include chicken patties, barbecue beef, creamed turkey, cheeseburgers, and branded pizza weekly. In addition to the main dish, a vegetable, fruit and milk is also offered at each mail. A nutritional analysis was recently done on our menus by the Illinois State Board of Education, and we are proud to say that we passed with flying colors. |
Secondary Schools
The secondary schools have additional entrees and dining options, such as a potato bar, salad and deli bar, as well as a wide variety of a'la carte items from which to choose.

The Food Services Department also has an award-winning catering program for special meetings/functions, featuring such specialties as lasagna, stuffed pork chop dinner, savory cheese and luscious iced cinnamon rolls! Please call 966-3033 and allow two weeks notice before the date needed. |
