Champ
Comments by Eevee at Washington - 5th grade
4 Stars

Champ is a novel about a boy who gives up on sports too easily. His dad is always fighting with him and saying "you give up too easy". He gets a dog in a serious accident and it loses a leg because of its condition. I recommend this book because it's about a boy and a dog becoming friends. The dog loves sports and the boy dislikes them. But most of all, it is about a boy and his dad trusting each other. I felt sad when Champ lost his leg, but otherwise the book was entertaining.

Champ is about a dog who lost his leg in a car accident and was a many-time Champion show dog. He was named Champ and owned by a rich lady named Mrs.Lenner. Mrs.Lenner gave up Champ to a boy named Riley due to a situation with his dad. His dad wants him to be a ball player but Riley says otherwise. Riley is so focused on training Champ for a dog show that he has no time for baseball. So a conflict between Riley and his dad begins. But that is the least of Riley's problems when he faces a choice that could separate him from Champ forever.
