Target Community Giving Grant Program
SCOPE: Nonprofits looking for funds for education and arts programs can apply for funding from their local Target store. The Target Community Giving Grant program provides funding for local programs. Education funding focuses on literacy efforts, afterschool programs and arts funding.
DEADLINE: May 31. Decisions are made by September 30.
FUNDS: Grants average between $1,000 - $3,000. Applications should be submitted to the local Target store team leader.

Newspaper Association of America Foundation
SCOPE: Encourages middle and high schools to partner with professional newspapers in their communities and seek funding to start, relaunch or revitalize student newspapers, whether online or in print.
ELIGIBILITY: All public and private schools serving grades seven through 12 and working in partnership with daily or nondaily professional newspapers are eligible to receive Student/Newspaper Partnership Grants from the NAA Foundation. Schools are also encouraged to seek a university or a college as an additional partner.
DEADLINE: May 16, 2008
FUNDS: The NAA Foundation will fund up to 12 partnerships in 2008-2009. Each partnership may receive up to $5,000 in Year One, plus an additional $2,500 in Year Two. Funding will come in four tiers over the two-year period.

Coca-Cola Foundation
SCOPE: The Coca-Cola Foundation offers grants to improve educational opportunities and increase classroom resources for both K-12 and higher education. The Foundation encourages new solutions to countless problems impeding educational systems.
ELIGIBILITY: Elementary and secondary schools, teacher-training programs, educational programs for minority students and global educational programs.

State Farm® and National Youth Leadership Council Project Ignition Grant
SCOPE: What is Project Ignition? It’s a grant program that uses service-learning to help address teen driver safety issues. Work together to develop a campaign to address the issue of teen driver safety in your community. How you choose to do that is completely up to you! With any service-learning project, the goal is to make an impact in your community in the most creative way possible. The only limit is your imagination.
ELIGIBILITY: Public schools (including public charter and public alternative schools) in the United States that educate students in grades 9 through 12, ages 13 and older, are eligible to participate and receive project awards.
DEADLINE: Applications due no later than 11:59 p.m. (CDT) on July 3, 2008
FUNDS: Each year, schools whose campaigns are judged to be among the top 10 in the nation receive $5,000 to help cover expenses to come to The National Service-Learning Conference. There, they showcase their great work, one campaign is named the Best of the Best and that team presented with a $10,000 grant to continue its teen driver safety efforts.

Pay It Forward Foundation
SCOPE: Mini-grants are provided by this foundation for the underwriting of all types of service activities. Grants may be used for supplies, materials, equipment, or transportation to a service site. When submitting a proposal, outline the project in detail, describe its educational value, and attach a complete budget. Grants are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Applicants will be notified of the Foundation's decision within two months of the application receipt.
ELIGIBILITY: Teachers, principals, other school personnel, youth leaders, and student or community youth groups sponsored by an adult.
DEADLINE: The 15th of each month.

SCOPE: Burger King Corporation is committed to helping the communities in which its employees work and live.
ELIGIBILITY: Organizations should be engaged in areas of youth education and/or other types of community actions or services where Burger King restaurants have a major presence.

Big Lots, Inc. Lots2Give Contest
SCOPE: Big Lots, Inc. is accepting submissions for its Lots2Give Contest, where entrants get a chance to create and enter a short video (90 seconds or less), and write a brief paragraph explaining how their favorite school stands out by enhancing student learing.
ELIGIBILITY: K-12 schools located in the 48 continuous United States, including the District of Columbia.
DEADLINE: June 21
FUNDS: One grand prize, $10,000; three first prizes, $5,000; and 22 second prizes, $2,500.
