Nike Jordan Fundamentals Grant Program
SCOPE: Teachers can apply to the Nike Jordan Fundamentals Grant Program which recognizes outstanding teaching and instructional creativity in public schools serving the economically disadvantaged. Grant funds are limited to resource materials, supplies, equipment, transportation or other costs related to field trips and software. The program is an effort of the Jordan Brand, a division of Nike.
DEADLINE: June 15
FUNDS: Up to 400 grants of $2,500 each will be awarded - 200 grants in grades 1-6 and 200 in grades 7-12.

American Immigration Law Foundation's Teacher Grant Program
SCOPE: The American Immigration Law Foundation will fund a limited number of K-12 grade level projects that provide education about immigrants and immigration.
ELIGIBILITY: Activities must be innovative and supportive of AILF's mission of promoting the benefits of immigrants to our nation. Applications are limited to educators teaching in public or private primary, intermediate, and secondary level schools. Proposals that are classroom-based will receive strong consideration, and the Foundation encourages projects that can be replicated in other classrooms across the nation. AILF is always looking for innovative and creative ideas, this year focus will be emphasized on proposals that relate to the following categories: innovative use of technology; underrepresented minorities; community outreach and partnerships with community based organizations; math and science.

Olive Garden/Red Lobster Offer Grants to Improve K-12 Classroom Education
SCOPE:The Darden Restaurant Foundation offers an array of community-based grants for the improvement of K-12 education. The Darden Restaurants Foundation - part of the company which operates Red Lobster, The Olive Garden and other restaurants - makes grants in communities in which Darden has facilities. Projects should meet community needs, as well as emphasize diversity and fairness.

NFIE Innovation, Learning and Leadership Grants
SCOPE: The NEA (National Education Association) Foundation for the Improvement of Education (NFIE) makes grants to underwrite professional development or implementation of innovative ideas that result in improved student achievement.
DEADLINE: Applications are reviewed three times per year. NFIE accepts applications on an ongoing basis, but remindes potential applicants that if they apply by June 1, they will receive notification by Nov. 15.
FUNDS: Grants range from $2,000 to $5,000 each.
ELIGIBILITY: U.S. public school teachers of grades K-12; public school education support professionals; and higher education facultyand staff at U.S. public colleges and universities. Preference will be given to members of the National Education Association.
NFIE specifically encourages grant applications from teachers and staff with less than seven years of experience in the profession and education support professionals such as para-educators, school bus drivers, maintenance and custodial staff, food services staff, school nurses, office assistants, school security officers and technicians.
AREAS: Learning and leadership grants fund high-quality professional development experiences or collegial study groups leading to improvements in practice, curriculum and student achievement. NFIE will award up to 75 of these grants per year.
Innovation grants support collaborative efforts by two or more colleagues to develop and implement novel ideas resulting in high student achievement, especially for underserved students. The proposed work should engage students in critical thinking and problem-solving that deepens their knowledge of standards-based subject matter. NFIE will award up to 250 of these $2,000 grants per year.

National Weather Foundation
SCOPE: To help improve the education of students in meteorology. Selected schools may use the funds for teachers to take an accredited course in atmospheric sciences, attend a relevant workshop or conference, or purchase scientific materials or equipment for the classroom.

Monarchs in the Classroom Project
SCOPE: "Butterflies Make Better Teachers." In addition to being a source of beauty and wonder, since 1991, Monarch butterflies have been a source of ideas for introducing students to the scientific method and to subjects ranging from biology to ecology. For 12 years, the Monarchs in the Classroom Project has used the study of the Monarch's lifecycle and migration to engage and instruct K-12 educators. Throughout the school year, the project conducts workshops and provides materials on the butterflies for individual schools and school districts; it also holds intensive two-week trainings at its home base at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul. Schools or school districts must cover the $100 per hour cost of workshops during the school year, but all of the expenses incurred by teachers participating in the summer workshops are covered by the U.S. Education Department. Science Teachers Invited to Submit Proposals for Toyota TAPESTRY Grant Program
SCOPE: Over the past fourteen years, the Toyota TAPESTRY grant program, sponsored by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. and administered by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), has awarded 552 grants totaling more than $5 million to teachers in the United States and U.S. territories. All middle and high school science teachers and elementary teachers who teach some science in the classroom are eligible to apply. "Science teacher" is defined as anyone who spends at least 50 percent of his/her classroom time teaching science or who teaches a minimum of two science classes per day. Elementary teachers who teach science in a self-contained classroom setting or as teaching specialists are also eligible. Proposals must describe a project and its potential impact on students, and include a budget of up to $10,000 (up to $2,500 for mini-grants). Grants will be awarded in three categories: Environmental Science Education, Physical Science Applications, and Literacy and Science Education.

ELIGIBILITY: K-12 teachers of science.
FUNDS: Fifty grants of up to $10,000 each and a minimum of twenty "mini-grants" of $2,500 each.

Pay It Forward Foundation
SCOPE: Mini-grants are provided by this foundation for the underwriting of all types of service activities. Grants may be used for supplies, materials, equipment, or transportation to a service site. When submitting a proposal, outline the project in detail, describe its educational value, and attach a complete budget. Grants are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Applicants will be notified of the Foundation's decision within two months of the application receipt.
ELIGIBILITY: Teachers, principals, other school personnel, youth leaders, and student or community youth groups sponsored by an adult.
DEADLINE: The 15th of each month.
