AVerMedia AVerVision Lesson Plan Contest

SCOPE: Submit a full, written lesson plan relating to one of the following subjects while integrating the use of a document camera into the lesson plan itself: Mathematics, Science, History, Social Studies, English, Language Arts, Art, Music, Other.

Lesson plans must include a document camera as the primary demonstration tool in the lesson itself, and be directly related to one of the above subjects. Integrating document cameras with other technologies may also be described (e.g. interactive whiteboards, automated response systems, computers, etc).

DEADLINE: Lesson Plans can be submitted between January 25, 2008 and April 18, 2008. Winners will be notified by May 2, 2008.

FUNDS: One Grand Prize will be awarded for each of the above subjects: $1,000 to be used for additional classroom technology and a new AVerVision CP300 document camera.

Fujifilm's Products for Learning Initiative

SCOPE: Teachers can now easily integrate digital photo and film technology as part of their lesson plans through Fujifilm's national Products for Learning Initiative. The program encourages educators to help expand student creativity, improve communications skills and increase student motivation through hands-on experiences. From digital portfolios for kindergartners and photojournalism with 8th graders to photo enhancement projects with photography students at colleges and universities. The company is looking for lesson plans that have educational merit and clearly demonstrate the creative integration of imaging and information technology into classroom instruction. Intel Corporation

SCOPE: Intel Corp.'s Model School Program gives every school in the U.S. the chance to apply for potential seeding of equipment. To apply, schools must submit an innovative proposal for using technology to enhance instruction, and if Intel likes what it sees, it will match grant recipients with companies that can provide the equipment necessary to meet their needs.

LearnStar's "Get on TRAX" Grants

SCOPE: LearnStar has an expansive library of academic events, covering 20 core subjects and six specialized subject areas for grades K-12. Teachers can immediately evaluate performance, and students gain the motivation and skills they need to achieve academic success.

ELIGIBILITY: Any educator may apply for the grant regardless of school or position.

DEADLINE: Grant submissions must be received no later than 5pm CST on April 25, 2008.

AWARD: Three sets of 100 student SmartTRAX software licenses (1 each for an Elementary, Middle and High School) will be awarded to schools based on need, enthusiasm, application, innovation and methodology.

2008 Win a Wireless Lab Sweepstakes

SCOPE: Discovery Education, a provider of digital-video-based broadband educational content, and CDW-G are back again with their annual Win a Wireless Lab Sweepstakes, offering students a chance to win wireless labs for their schools. The labs include 20 computers, a projector, printer, wireless access points, a mobile cart, and more.

ELIGIBILITY: Public and private school teachers, administrators, and school and district technology specialists.

DEADLINE: May 1

FUNDS: Five grand prize winners will receive a lab valued at $50,000. In addition, five first-prize winner will receive an interactive whiteboard or video projector; 10 second-prize winners will receive a notebook computer; and five, third-prize winners will receive digital camcorders. Adobe Systems, Inc. School Innovation Awards

SCOPE: The awards program honors the creative and innovative work of high school students in three categories: web design and development; film and video; and graphic and print design.

ELIGIBILITY: Students who attend an accredited high school in the U.S. and are between the ages of 14-19.

DEADLINE: May 12

FUNDS: The three finalists and winners in each category as well as the Best-of-Best winner will be announced at the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) in San Antonio, Texas, which is scheduled for June 26 - July 2. The Best-of-Best winner plus one chaperone will receive a trip to Awards Event, including nonrefundable coach class round-trip airfare (if located outside the metropolitan area of San Antonio) and two nights's accommodation in shared housing arrangements.

Samsung's Hope for Education

SCOPE: Each year, Samsung's Hope for Education holds a contest where students from schools nationwide can write a 100-word essay about how technology benefits and helps education.

ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia. Minors: If you are under the age of 18, you must obtain your parent's or legal guardian's consent before participating. Minors under the age of 13 will be required to provided only their parent's or legal guardian's email address to enter.

DEADLINE: August 31

FUNDS: The winning school will receive $100,000.00 awarded in the form of Samsung merchandise, $100,000.00 awarded in the form of Microsoft software, $5,000.00 cash, one (1) Classroom Assistant Dog and the DIRECTV GOES TO SCHOOL® package. Total estimated retail value of the Grand Prize package is $205,000.00. In addition, there will be 30 first place prizes with an estimated retail value of $61,000 each.
