Auburn High School

DRESS CODE
The administration and faculty of Auburn H.S. feel that dress and personal grooming influence the overall school environment. No skirts, shorts, dresses, etc.., that are more than finger-tip length above the knees. Students are not allowed to wear nylon running shorts, muscle shirts, crop tops nor tank tops with straps less than 2 inches wide. Any apparel with obscene or questionable printing and/or illustrations on them, or that are gang, tobacco, alcohol or drug related, or deemed educationally distracting will not be permitted.

No hats, headgear, scarves, or jackets of any description may be worn in school or be carried to classrooms or the lunch room. These items should remain in lockers until students are ready to exit the building.

1. Hats and/or headwear (i.e. hoods, bandannas, scarves, picks, combs, and head bands) are not to be worn in the building by students and must be placed in lockers for the school day. Hats are not to be carried around during the school day.
2. Beach wear is not allowed.
3. Reasonable cleanliness of person and wearing apparel is expected.
4. Gym attire is to be confined to physical educational activities.
5. Reasonable repair of wearing apparel is expected
6. Warm weather wear:
  • Sleeveless tops are acceptable as long as no cleavage is showing and straps are at least 2 inches wide at the should.
  • Any apparel, which reveals undergarments, stomach, or inappropriate parts of your body, is not allowed
  • Pants with a low waistline should only be worn with shirts long enough to cover the stomach area.
  • Shorts, skirts and dresses must be no more than finger-tip length above the knee
  • See-through clothing showing undergarments/inappropriate body parts is inappropriate. If a tank-top is worn underneath a see-through shirt, it must be an approved shirt with 2 inch straps.
  • 7. Shoes that cover the soles of the feet must be worn at all times.
    8. The wearing of any apparel depicting gangs, tobacco, alcohol, drugs, sexual connotations, obscenities, violence and ethnic or racial slurs/superiority is prohibited. This includes innuendo.
    9. Jewelry or body ornaments of any type that are educationally distracting, potentially dangerous or that pose health concerns are prohibited.


    East High School

    DRESS CODE
    We take pride in the appearance of our student body. Our dress reflects the quality of the school. Students’ dress and grooming must NOT disrupt the educational process, interfere with the maintenance of a positive teaching and learning environment, or comprise reasonable standards of health, safety and decency. The administration will decide when a students’ dress and grooming in unacceptable. The following guidelines apply to student dress at school:

    All shirts and blouses must meet acceptable criteria.
  • Undergarments may NOT be visible
  • All clothing must be made of opaque (non see through) material
  • Clothing which fails to adequately cover the body or which is torn or altered in an explicit or suggestive manner will not be permitted.
  • Tops which expose the chest are NOT permitted.
  • Students must wear apparel with straps at least two (2) inches in width and cover all chest area, navel area and back area.
  • No Tube tops. Tops with the back exposed (Tops must cover all chest and navel area and have straps at least 2 inches in width.)
  • No Basketball Jerseys with no T-Shirt underneath
  • Tops which expose the chest are NOT permitted
  • Shirts with obscene pictures or language are unacceptable. Words or pictures on articles of clothing which advertise or promote illegal drugs, alcohol or alcohol products, cigarettes or other tobacco products, gang related items or any other items not legally usable by high school students will not be permitted.
  • Any tank top worn must have a tee shirt under it. (Including basketball jerseys). Articles of clothing, which are sexually explicit, offensive to commonly accepted standards or suggestive in nature, will not be permitted.
  • NO HOODED TOPS: GARMENTS WITH HOODS ARE NOT TO BE WORN IN SCHOOL. HOODED JACKETS AND COATS MAY BE WORN TO SCHOOL BUT MUST BE PLACED IN A LOCKER UPON ARRIVAL TO SCHOOL.


  • Bottoms:
  • Pants or shorts must be worn at the waist as designed.
  • Undergarments may not be visible
  • Students wearing skirts or dresses they cannot sit in because they are too short. Shorts that don’t cover appropriate body parts. All clothing (skirts, shorts, dresses, etc.) must be Longer than the fingertips when arms are extended at sides in a standing position.
  • Tears or rips must be below fingertips when arms are extended at sides in a standing position.
  • Pajamas and house shoes are not acceptable attire at school.


  • All coats, hats, and jackets including all sports jackets are to be stored in the student lockers during the school day. These items are not to be worn in the building during the school day. Hats worn in the building will be confiscated. Hats or any form of head coverings including sweatbands for athletes, and scarves must be removed AS SOON AS STUDENTS ENTER the building and must not be worn or displayed until after students leave the building. Those items MAY NOT be carried to class and must be stored in lockers during the school day. The Dress Code will also be enforced during “dress-up days,” i.e. Homecoming, senior dress up day, etc.

    ANY STUDENT WEARING CLOTHING DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE BY AN ADMINISTRATOR WILL BE ASKED TO CHANGE OR BE SENT HOME.


    Guilford High School

    Dress
    We take pride in the appearance of our student body. Our dress reflects the quality of the school. Extremes in dress that distract others from the educational process or become a nuisance may result in a student being sent home to change clothes. Students are expected to dress in accordance with commonly acceptable standards of decency and with regard to standards for health and safety. A manner of dress which results in disruption of the educational process, or which contributes to unhealthy or unsafe conditions will not be permitted. The following guidelines apply to student dress at school:

    1. All shirts and blouses must cover the mid area. Clothing which fails to adequately cover the body or which is torn or altered in an explicit or suggestive manner will not be permitted. Shirts, blouses and tops that are not tucked in must be long enough to cover the midsection when the student is in a standing or sitting posture. Pants or shorts must be worn at the waist as designed. Students must wear apparel with straps at least two (2) inches in width and cover all chest area and navel area

    The following items are unacceptable:
  • Tops with the back out
  • Tube tops
  • Basketball jerseys with no T-shirts underneath
  • Tops with cleavage showing or undergarments showing
  • Skirts or dresses with slits from ankle to thigh
  • Dresses, skirts or shorts more than 2 inches above the top of the knee (even with leggings).
  • See through blouses or shirts
  • Jeans with holes above the knee
  • Scarves

  • 2. Shirts with obscene pictures or language are unacceptable. Words or pictures on articles of clothing which advertise or promote illegal drugs, weapons, alcohol or alcohol products, cigarettes or other tobacco products or any other items not legally usable by high school students will not be permitted. Any tank top worn must have a tee shirt under it. (Including basketball jerseys)Articles of clothing, which are sexually explicit, offensive to commonly accepted standards or suggestive in nature, will not be permitted.

    3. All coats, hats, and jackets are to be stored in the student lockers during the school day. These items are not to be worn in the building during the school day.     5. Belts must be buckled

    ANY STUDENT WEARING CLOTHING DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE BY AN ADMINISTRATOR WILL BE ASKED TO CHANGE OR WILL BE SENT HOME.


    Jefferson High School

    Appropriate Dress for School
    We take pride in the appearance of our student body. Our dress reflects the quality of the school. Extremes in dress as designated by administration that distract others from the educational process or become a nuisance may result in a student being sent home to change clothes. Students are expected to dress in accordance with commonly acceptable standards of decency and with regard to standards for health and safety. A manner of dress which results in a disruption of the education process, or which contributes to unhealthy or unsafe conditions will not be permitted. The following guidelines apply to student dress at school:

    1. All shirts and blouses must cover the mid area. Clothing which fails to adequately cover the body or which is torn or altered in an explicit or suggestive manner will not be permitted. Shirts, blouses and tops that are not tucked in must be long enough to cover the midsection and not roll up when the student is in a standing or sitting posture. Pants or shorts must be worn at the waist as designed.

    None of the below will be permitted
    a. Tube tops.
    b. Basketball jerseys with no T-shirt
    c. Tops with cleavage showing
    d. Students wearing skirts, shorts, or dresses they cannot sit in because they are too short. Skirts, shorts, or dresses are considered long enough by the hem being able to touch the student's fingertips when arms are extended at sides.
    e. Shirts/Tops with back, sides, or mid-drift exposed.
    *Any garments not listed may be deemed inappropriate at administration's discretion

    2. Shirts with obscene pictures or language are unacceptable. Words or pictures on articles of clothing which advertise or promote illegal drugs, alcohol or alcohol products, cigarettes or other tobacco products or any other items not legally usable by high school students will not be permitted. Articles of clothing which are sexually explicit, offensive to commonly accepted standards or suggestive in nature, will not be permitted.

    3. All coats, hats, bulky sweatshirts, jackets, including all sports jackets, and blankets are to be stored in the student lockers during the school day. These items are not to be worn in the building during the school day.

    Hats worn in the building WILL BE CONFISCATED. Hats or any form or head coverings must be removed AS SOON AS STUDENTS ENTER THE BUILDING and must not be worn or displayed until after students leave the building. These items MAY NOT be carried to class and must be stored in lockers during the school day.

    4. Pajamas or clothing that has appearance of pajamas and house shoes are unacceptable attire at school.

    5. Hats, sunglasses, combs chaings longer than six inches attached to billfolds, and spiked wrist bands or collars are not to be worn in the building. Those articles will be taken from students and turned into the Student Office and returned ONLY to the student's parents.

    6. Any form of gang related behavior or dress will not be tolerated at Jefferson High School. Students involved in such activity will be disciplined, which may result in out-of-school suspension and/or recommendation for expulsion and arrest.

    7. Hair should be kept clean and well groomed.

    ANY STUDENT WEARING CLOTHING DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE BY AN ADMINISTRATOR WILL BE ASKED TO CHANGE OR BE SENT HOME
