Band-Mrs. Heddinger
trumpetplay
Eisenhower offers band instruction at each grade level: 6th grade beginning band, 7th grade beginning band, 7th grade advanced band and two 8th grade bands.
Students in the beginning bands learn the fundamentals of music: selecting an instrument, posture, hand position, basic music theory, basic tone production and technical facility. Students in the advanced bands continue their work on tone quality, intonation and advanced technical facility as well as intermediate music theory concepts.
All bands perform two evening concerts during the school year. The Advanced bands march in Rockfords annual Memorial Day parade and the 8th grade students may choose to attend the one day band trip to a music festival and Great America. Participants in band are required to pay a yearly $15 activity fee.

Ms. Teeman is a 2007 graduate of Rockford College. Journalism is a quarter-long encore class in which students familiarize themselves with the newspaper. They will learn th eparts of a newspaper and the purposes for each. Finally, they will apply these skills to create their own classroom newspapers. Much focus will be on writing. Look for the Classroom Paper to come home at the end of the quarter.
Computers

At Eisenhower, we feel technology enhances our curriculum. It is not something that is separate, used as a reward when the 'real' work is finished. Rather, technology is viewed as another tool we use to teach our students. It enhances our teaching by providing exciting material to use to reinforce what we are teaching. It improves student learning by providing different avenues for students to explore. It is another tool which helps us address different learning styles in classrooms.

7th Grade... Basic computer skills, as well as keyboarding skills will be taught in this class. Word processing, spreadsheets, clipart, and other applications will be taught and used in class projects.

8th Grade... Advanced computer application skills will be taught to include: PowerPoint, Excel, desktop publishing, multi-media applications, and Internet research techniques. Projects will be completed, to include interdisciplinary projects from the core classes.
