Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go Essay Contest – application deadline is February 15, 2010. Scholarship essay contest based on Dr. Seuss’s book “Oh the Places You’ll Go” for graduating Seniors who are under 21. Applications available online at Seuss Scholarship

JFK Profiles in Courage Essay Contest – application deadline is January 9, 2010. Scholarship essay contest for 9-12th graders about an elected official who demonstrates Political Courage. Applications available online at

Tim Milroy Memorial Scholarship – application materials must arrive by January 16th, scholarship for senior with a 2.5 GPA or higher planning on attending a Junior College or Division III school and planning to play intercollegiate basketball or major in sports management or education. Ina M. Cholke and Olga Dean Bullard Trust Fund Scholarship – deadline April 1st, scholarship for senior with a 3.0 or higher GPA planning to enter a 1 or 2 year program in: nursing, respiratory care, child care development, medical transcriptionist certification, or coding certification. U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship – deadline March 1st, scholarships for seniors who sign up online and win a scholarship through a random drawing, students sign up online at U.S. Bank


Gates Millenium Scholarship – application materials must arrive by January 11th, scholarship for African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American senior with a 3.3 GPA or higher demonstrating financial need. Apply online at

National Commission for Cooperative Education – deadline February 15th, scholarship for senior interested in attending one of 8 NCCE partner colleges/universities and being involved in one of their Cooperative Education Programs. Mr. and Mrs. George W. Taylor Foundation Scholarship – deadline January 8, FULL RIDE scholarship for senior interested in pursuing an engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. Must have a 30 on ACT with a math sub score of 29 or higher and be in top 10% of class. Applications available from Mrs. Joyner in counseling

Stokes Educational Scholarship Program: deadline is November 30, 2009. Educational/Scholarship program through the National Security Agency (NSA) for students interested in pursuing a career in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering. Golden Apple Scholarship: deadline for nominations due November 30, 2009. Scholarship and training program for student interested in going into the teaching profession. Students can be nominated by an adult non-family member at Golden Apple or see Mrs. Joyner in counseling for more details.

Beta Sigma Psi National Lutheran Fraternity U of I Scholarship: deadline is February 10, 2010. Scholarship for males who are Lutheran planning on attending the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Applications available online at Beta Sigma Psi

AXA Achievement Scholarship: deadline is December 15, 2009. Scholarship for seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in activities in school, community or the workplace. Applications available online at AXA Achievement or from Mrs. Joyner in counseling.

David and Diane Graf Rockford Endowed Scholarship: deadline is February 1, 2010. Scholarship for a Rockford area senior applying as a full time student to the NIU College of Business. Applications online at Graf Endowed Scholarship or see Mrs. Joyner in counseling

Winnebago County Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship: deadline is March 19, 2010. Scholarship for graduating senior interested in majoring in soil and/or water conservation or a related natural resource field. Applications available online at
