Welcome to Mrs. Doll's 5th Grade Class!

We are settled in and have begun Unit 3 in math, which focuses on geometry. Our reading groups are engaged in various literature and we are working on the trait of organization in writing. We are finishing up our Constitution unit and embarking on an election unit. We are also beginning to explore the scientific method.
I enjoyed meeting you at Open House. And we had a wonderful trip to Chicago to visit the Science and Industry Museum.
Our Pennies for Peace campaign was a great success. The students raised around $2,500 and learned a great deal about helping others as well as running a fundraiser. Our culminating event is an scheduled for Fridyay, October 17. Students will be conducting the assembly. It will begin at 1:20 if you would like to join us.
Progress reports went out last week and should be returned signed by now. Also, sign up forms for November conferences went home last week. Please continue to check your child's Planner. I am hoping to have a weekly list of homework assignments on this website.
