Thanks for visiting our Carlson school website. My name is Linda Melville and I
am your child's first grade teacher. I am a graduate of Illinois State University and
Rockford College. I am certified in Elementary Education and Special
Education ( Hearing Impaired and Learning Disabilities). Carlson is a
terrific school and it has been a second home to me since I student taught
here in 1973. My two daughters are Carlson alumni and my husband and I live
nearby. I have taught most elementary grade levels as well as special
education but have spent about half of my career in first grade. I think it's
the hardest job in teaching but for me the most rewarding. I look forward to
working with you as we introduce your child to the delights of reading and
the excitement of learning. I appreciate you contacting me with any questions
or concerns you have as soon as they arise. Parent input and support are
crucial in making your child's first grade year smooth, happy, and
successful.
