Ellis Arts Academy Guiding Principles


Ellis will be an exciting, creative learning environment embracing the belief that students with diverse and special learning needs will be an integral part of the education experience.

• The curriculum will adhere to the core academic goals of the Rockford School District.
• The Arts will be integrated into every aspect of the school.
• Skills in dance, drama, literary arts, media arts, and music and visual arts will be taught.
• Respect and relationships will be paramount.
• Small groups will be established to create a nurturing, close-knit climate within the school.
• Various cultural perspectives will be integrated into the curriculum.
• Parent education and involvement will be critical.
• The Arts community will be a resource for student learning and the Arts Magnet School will be a resource for the community.


Ellis Announcements

Parking in the Circle Drive

Please do not park in the circle drive when you are dropping students off or picking them up. If we have an emergency, emergency vehicles will not be able to reach the building.

Parent/ Teacher Conferences

Please make sure you save the dates of November 18th and 19th so you can attend a conference regarding your child’s progress. Think Link and ISAT scores will be shared at conferences. We will also have a Scholastic Book Fair during conferences. If you would like to volunteer for the book fair call the school and ask to speak to Ms. S. McGaw.

Market Day:

Check your child’s backpack for the November order form. Orders are due November 13th with a pick up date of November 19th.

Cold Weather


Students in K-5th grade will go outside for recess. Please send them to school with a warm winter coat, gloves, and a hat.

End of Trimester 1 for K-5th grade is November 18th.

Reading


Please continue to have your child read chapter books and submit their name on the ‘Chain of Authors’ link in the Library.
