A message from Mr, Charles White
I would like to welcome all students and parents new and old to Ellis for the 07-08 school year. We are excited about the year and the instruction that the students will be receiving. We had significant improvement in ISAT scores in the middle school and moderate growth in the elementary wing of our building. Reading and special education are the areas that we are working on improving. Even though that our school did not make AYP we have placed interventions in place to address these issues and look forward to achieving AYP(Annual Yearly Process) this year. I have several initiatives that I am working on currently. At the current time I and the Technology Committee are creating a 3 year strategic plan to address our technology concerns in the building. The Morning Show is now running in an abbreviated form at the current time. However, we expect to have the full show up and running again by next year if not sooner. We had it airing in its full format for a few months but due to some technical issues we had to shorten it to a few minutes. We are eligible for free tutoring from companies such as Sylvan and Huntington and several others because of not meeting AYP. The application period has now closed but I want to thank parents for taking advantage of these proven programs and providing their children with the best education possible. Finally, a significant portion of our teachers now have web sites up and running. These sites contain such things as announcements from the class and current homework. I encourage you to visit these sites at your convenience.
