Characteristics, Accomplishments, or Priorities of General Interest A theme for each school year is developed. The theme is aligned with the state standards for each grade level housed at Froberg School. Froberg's 2008-2009 theme is "Froberg learning through the world's habitats". The staff and students focus on the theme during many school activities. The focus adds interest and variety to the school year.
Students engage in multi-aged interdisciplinary projects throughout the year, culminating in various special activities such as our Spring Multi-Culture Fair.
Within our multi-cultural community, we venture to promote positive interpersonal relationships in preparation for a well balanced education for all of our students. The goal is to love one another and in order to do this we must be taught and educated about each other. A few ways we do this is by having multi-cultural assemblies, parent and community volunteer helpers in the classroom and welcoming diversity in all areas and avenues of our lives.
The goals of Froberg’s School Improvement Plan include: Implementing the district's Guided Reading and Balanced Literacy Program. With Using word walls, literacy centers, extended response writing in reading, and interactive writing this will raise our reading/language art scores in 2nd grade testing. Teachers will teach Six-Trait Writing in addition to using the Making Meaning activities provided, and fully teaching the District's Everyday Math program with including extended response math activities.
With star student, positive bus programs and PBIS, these help to promote positive self-esteem and increase academic skills of all children when behavior is appropriate and safe. The school respects the dignity of each student by reinforcing positive behavior through weekly awards from the office and recognition from the teachers and staff. Positive and Supportive parent involvement provides a partnership between home and school, which fosters emotional and academic growth for all children. Components of this are a strong academically focused Parent-Teacher Organization and parent involvement in school and homework assignments. Technology is integrated into the curriculum. Every classroom has a computer and is connected to the Internet. The Media Center has a computer lab of 25 computers which are also connected to the Internet.

This helps them to be able to work together nicely and it prepares them for their future. Students’ academic and artwork decorates the hallways and classrooms, creating a positive learning environment.
