News From Mrs. Rundall

School Starts July 20, 2006
The 2008-09 Academic Year has started and it has been wonderful to see all of the returning students and great to meet the new Haskell Academy students as well. Students wear school uniforms. Uniforms consist of any color plain shirt or blouse with a color. There can be no stripes, pictures, words, or design on the shirt unless it is an official Haskell Year-Round Academy sweatshirt or T-shirt. Pants, shorts, and skirts are to be navy or khaki colored. Some children are chilly sitting in the classroom air conditioning. They may bring a sweater for the classroom but it must be a navy, blue, white, or dark green plain sweater without design etc.

PARENT ACADEMY
Put Saturday, November 15, 2008 on your calendar and plan to attend the workshops at Haskell. The Parent Academy begins with registration at 9:30 and ends at 2:30 with door prizes being announced. Lunch will be provided and activities are planned for your children.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Please send the box tops to school with your children or drop them off at school. There is a collection bin just outside the office on the table. Haskell receives 10 cents for each Box Top for Education coupon. Thank you for supporting Box Tops for Education and Haskell Academy. We collected over $500 last school year!

PARENT CONFERENCES
Parent Conferences will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008 and Tuesday, September 23, 2008 from 4:30-7:30 pm. In the spring Parent Conferences will be held on February 19, 2009 and February 24, 2009 from 4:30-7:30 pm. Your child’s teacher will be contacting you to set a time for you to meet to discuss your child’s progress here at Haskell if you have not attended a conference. Our goal is to meet with 100% of Haskell parents.

VACATION
The Fall break will be October 14-October 31, 2008. There will be Tutoring for students who are identified by their teacher as students who could benefit from this additional tutoring on October 14, 15, 16, and 17th. Your child’s teacher will discuss this with you.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance will be a major initiative at Haskell this year. You will hear about it a lot. Please…
• Make certain your child is at Haskell by 7:50. This is when we say the Pledge by the flagpole.
• Make certain your child arrives at Haskell at 7:30 if they want to eat breakfast.
• Do not try to pick your child up early. School dismisses at 2:00 PM
• Schedule doctor appointments after school—not during school.
• Please call if your child is sick and cannot attend.
