July 25, 2008 Dear Parents,
I hope that you have had a productive and restful summer. Many preparations have occurred over the summer months to make this the most exciting year ever for our incoming students and parents. All three grades will continue to use our hands-on Connected Math series. We will also continue to provide leveled reading instruction for all of our students. Our Study Island ISAT Test Preparation Program will be used by the English, mathematics and sciences classes.
Our Student Support Specialist, Mrs. Sandy Wetter, has been working with Geri Alten from the Winnebago Department of Public Health and we expect to have a staff member to implement our Steps to Respect Program in 6th and 8th grades..
Parents whose children received free/reduced lunch should fill out ONE FAMILY MEAL APPLICATION at your youngest child’s school. If you receive a Direct Certification letter from the Department of Human Services in July, please bring/mail it as soon as possible to the Food Service Department at 201 S. Madison, or bring it to registration. The Direct Certification letter means that you don’t have to fill out an application for free/reduced meals!
Registration for the 2008/09 school year will take place on August 12, 2008 from 10:00 A.M.—6:00 P.M. and on August 13, 2008 from 7:00 A.M.—3:00 P.M. Parents can come anytime to register their child on these two days. Enclosed in this packet are registration forms for you to complete at home and bring with you to school on registration day. We have also included a list of fees, the Kennedy Uniform Policy, and a list of supplies/materials, which your child will need for the school year.
Have a safe and enjoyable rest of the summer. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the office at 654-4880.
Sincerely,
Theresa Kallstrom, Principal, Kennedy Middle School
