Kennedy Middle School
PTO Minutes
October 9, 2008 at 6:30 P.M.
1. Call to order 6:38 pm
Betsy Fish 6th grade renaissance advisor attended the meeting to explain what renaissance was about and gift ideas for the students who had no referrals and at least a c grade average. PTO will be helping to fund prizes for this activity.
Betsy Fish is also part of the student council committee, they will be having a dance on October 24, 2008 from 5:00-7:00pm.
2. Treasures report
Sandy Nordenburg, our fall fundraiser was a success on behalf of the PTO we would like to thank all who participated. Once again thank you.
3. Principals Report
Think link is a new computer base program that has been implemented statewide to help identify which students need more academic help.
The school also has two new tutors who come in and help any and all students who need help in reading and math.
Study Island is up and running, this year students had the advantage of being able to use it at the beginning of the school year.
The road to success program has also begun. Students who miss 3 or more assignments stay after school on the schedule day and have the opportunity to complete all miss assignment with the help of teachers who have volunteered to do so. We would like to thank all the teachers who have taken the time to do this.
Lunch tables have been changed to assigned tables. Children had the opportunity to pick a table to seat at during lunch time, this will be there table until the end of the year. Less students are at the tables making lunch time a smooth process.
We want to encourage parents to come and visit the school and see what a day or part of a day is like in your childs life. Pass by the office and receive a pass and maybe enjoy some lunch with your child.
4. New Business
Parent teacher conference will be held on November 13 and November 18 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Parent council meeting will be held on October 21,2008 at the Rockford main library. Linda Hernandez will be present and all parents are welcome to attend. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss elementary school zoning.
