KENNEDY'S MISSION STATEMENT The mission of Kennedy Middle School is to prepare our students for participating as fully functioning members of our American society. We intend to make our students equal to the challenge of realizing their personal dreams, while teaching them to value education and diversity.
ABOUT KENNEDY MIDDLE SCHOOL Kennedy Middle School strives to lead academically, based on student achievement test scores, and to challenge greater learning with new and updated technology.
Kennedy's technology labs introduces students to the high-tech workplace while a the same time integerating math, science , history and language in each subject area. A Career and Technology Lab exposes students to high-tech career opportunities, such a computer graphics and animation, flight technology and computer aided drafting.
Kennedy follows the Middle School "Team" Concept, which establishes small communities of learners within the school and adheres to the standard district core curriculum. Teachers and staff possess a high degree of ownership in the academic performance of all Kennedy students. An attitude of "what more can be done to ensure student progress" prevails.
Kennedy is arranged in a pod configuration that surrounds a large and bright open area. Grade level and areas of study separate pods. The openness that characterizes Kennedy enhances the family-like approach to educational excellence.
Kennedy is located on eighty-nine (89) acres of land, providing an abundance of opportunity for outdoor academic and athletic experiences.
On-line computers are available for students in classrooms, the library media center, and computer and technology labs. Interactive video, closed circuit TV, and audio/visual technology are also available.
A theater in the round holds special events such as Renaissance Assemblies, Red Ribbon Celebrations, Education Presentation and Recognition Programs.
Reading and Math intervention specialists are in the school to help students improve their reading and math skills.
Kennedy offers a fully-equipped weight room, a huge gymnasium, and the largest swimming pool, in the school district.
Parental Involvement at Kennedy fosters high student achievement, reinforces positive behavior and assists students in working cooperatively with one another.
Special programs include Kennedy Middle School Television / Radio Student News Team, Rotary Leadership Academy, Student Council, Technology / Career Education, Junior Achievement, and Peer Tutoring / Mediation.
