    KENNEDY MIDDLE SCHOOL UNIFORM INFORMATION

    Rationale
    The administration, faculty, and staff of Kennedy wish to establish a climate in which learning can flourish without the distractions of extremes in dress. We believe that the principles of modesty, simplicity, good taste, and neatness are core values in the selection of dress. This uniform policy is mandatory for all Kennedy students as carefully outlined below.

    Policy
    ID's - School issued photo ID must be worn around the neck at all times by all students. 6th grade must wear red; 7th grade white; 8th grade blue. Lanyards will be given with the ID at the beginning of school. Replacement ID is $3.00. Replacement lanyard is $2.00. All students are required to wear uniforms.

    The uniform will be white or navy polo shirts, and navy blue slacks, shorts, skirts, skorts or capris.
    * No coats or jackets of any kind may be worn in the classrooms at anytime.
    * Exposing the stomach area or upper torso of the body is not allowed. Shirts that are too short are not acceptable. If the midriff shows when the arms are raised shoulder high, the shirt is unacceptable.
    * Caps, scarves, armbands, do rags, rubber bands, sunglasses or headbands are not allowed in school.
    * There will be no substitutions or alterations of the uniform (such as pins, strings or rubber bands), and it must be kept clean and neat. If you alter your uniform in any way, you will be considered out of uniform.
    * No mesh shorts or pants and no sweats with elastic bottoms.
    * No large belt buckles.
    * Students who come to school without a complete uniform will be asked to call home for proper uniform attire or borrow a uniform from the school uniform shop.

    Students will receive one uniform/dress code violation for every uniform policy infraction. Homeroom teachers will check uniforms every morning during first hour and every subsequent teacher and other staff members will check throughout the day.
