Rockford Environmental Science Academy
RESA2 1800 Ogilby Road, Rockford, IL 61102 (815-489-5509): Students return Monday, January 4. Change in the uniform policy: Only WHITE shirts under uniform shirts. Boys need to have their pants pulled up to their waist. From the District Office: Effective Tuesday, January 19th all RPS MIddle and High Achools have been directed that all students must wear their student ID and lanyard in order to ride the bus to and from school. The student ID and Lanyard are part of the student's uniform and must be worn for the entire day while they are at school. Students have been reminded daily since returning from winter break that they need to wear thir ID and Lanyard as it is part of thir uniform. If your student is not wearing their ID or lanyard they will not be allowed to ride the bus beginning Tuesday, January 19th. It will be your reponsiblity to transport your child to and form school. Notices regarding ID and lanyard were sent home with students on January 14th, Thursday.

Our Mission Statement:

Rockford Environmental Science Academy will provide a challenging, nurturing, and safe environment where middle school students can excel academically and grow socially and emotionally into responsible young adults. Through the implementation of a Love and Logic program, students will have the opportunity to experience classroom and real life problem solving skills to assist in the endeavor to become productive citizens. The RESA staff will teach to the Illinois State standards. As a professional development school, we will continue to collaborate with NIU and Rock Valley College. RESA will strive for excellence in everything we do!

booster club Booster Club Meeting, All are welcome!
Booster Club will meet the last Monday of the month this year. The next meeting will be Monday, February 22, 6:00 p.m. in the Project REAL room (across from the Main Office). Please consider volunteering to assist the Booster Club with manning concessions at all the RESA events. Future meeting dates are: January 25, February 22, March 29, April 26, May 24.

Winter sports schedules are posted under the "sports" button in the left side bar. This includes the swimming, wrestling and girls basketball schdule for the 2009-2010 year. Come out and support this great group of students! GO OWLS!!

yearbook RESA YEARBOOK
RESA Yearbooks on SALE NOW!!The 2009-2010 yearbook will be sold for just $18.00 and will feature highlights from sports, Rec Nights, school events, and classroom activities. Order forms have been distributed to students. Completed forms and payment need to be returned to the MAIN OFFICE.

Payment can be made in cash, check or money order. Due to the switch in yearbook companies, we will no longer be able to accept online orders. After students return from Winter Break, the book price jumps to $20.00 and checks will no longer be accepted as a form of payments. If you have further questions, please contact Miss Schuga, RESA's Yearbook Advisor at (815)489-5509, ext. 4215.
chess CHESS CLUB IS MEETING!
The Rockford Winter Chess Challenge will be held on Saturday, February 6th at RESA. This is the largest chess tournament outside of Chicago and is a big fundraiser for the school. If you can make any small commitment of your time to help with this event, contact the librarians (1-185-490-5125 any school day, or organizer Randy Podeszwa at 1-815-874-9894 or at RandyPosedszwa@aol.com. See the clubs section for more details.
