PTO News
The Fall Fundraiser items will be delivered on Thursday, November 6. Please make arrangements to have these items picked up at school on Thursday, so your fundraiser sales can be delivered in a timely manner.
The November PTO Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, from 12:30-1:30 PM.
On Wednesday, November 19, the PTO will kick-off their annual Candle Fundraiser. Please help the PTO by making contacts and sales over our Thanksgiving Break. The candles make great gifts or stocking stuffers.
Veterans’ Day
There will be NO school on Tuesday, November 11, in honor of the special men and women who have served in our Armed Forces. Throughout the history of the United States, they have kept our country free, safe, and strong. Please honor them on this day!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our classroom teachers will be contacting you to schedule a Parent-Teacher Conference for your child. Conferences are being held on Thursday, November 13, and Tuesday, November 18. A meeting with your child’s teacher will benefit your understanding of your child’s school day.
Turkey Bingo
The PTO’s annual Turkey Bingo is quickly approaching on Friday, November 21, from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Picture Retake Day
Thursday, November 20, will be Picture Retake Day. If you were not satisfied with your child’s pictures, please return the packet and have his/her picture retaken. Picture Retake Day is also set for any student who was absent OR who was unable to buy a picture packet during the first picture date.
Thanksgiving Break
How time flies! The holiday season is quickly approaching. At dismissal on Tuesday, November 25, we will begin our Thanksgiving Break. The break runs from Wednesday, November 26, through Sunday, November 30. Students return to school on Monday, December 1.
Tardies
Parents, please help us curb the problem of tardiness at Walker Elementary School. This school year, we are having a large number of tardies with our students. It is so important for our students to arrive on time to school. Our students need to be in attendance, LEARNING. If tardiness is a problem for you and your child, you will be receiving a letter soon addressing the number of tardy days that your child has accumulated. We will also be submitting your name to our Home-School Counselor who deals with attendance issues.
Grading Periods
Tuesday, November 18, ends our first trimester of school. Our students have completed 58 days of school as of that date.
Notes to the Office
Thank you so much to all the parents who are cooperating with the school office and sending notes when your child is not riding the bus, not attending the After-School Program, or is being picked up early from school. We appreciate having that information in writing for both the classroom teacher and the school office.
Smoke Detectors
When you set your clocks back one hour for Daylight Savings Time, did you also remember to change your smoke detector batteries? Keep your family and your home safe!
