About West...
West Middle School is dedicated to helping students do "Quality Work" while acting responsibly, planning effectively, and achieving at their highest level.
Middle school students are placed in teams based on the middle school concept of learning. Hands on learning and relevant content are emphasized in academic classes.
West Middle School follows the middle school concept of placing students in small teams with a core group of teachers. This method makes it easier to follow each student's success, and allows help to be offered when it is needed.
West was the first middle school in Rockford to implement Peer Mediation Programs, Restitution Training, and Quality School Principles.
English as a Second Language students add to the cultural diversity of students who attend West Middle School. They are actively involved in technology and extracurricular activities at West. ESL students are multilingual and multicultural and enhance the global vision and voices with our schools and community.
