In sixth grade we use the Connected Math Program. We will begin our first book entitled "Prime Time." You must keep your book in a sturdy 3-ring binder at all times. Students should also have paper in the binder along with a spiral. You must also bring your calculator to class each day!
EXPECT MATH HOMEWORK EVERY SCHOOL NIGHT DURING THE SCHOOL WEEK & SOMETIMES ON THE WEEKEND!

The sixth grade social studies curriculum deals with ancient history. We will begin our studies by putting together a time capsule which we will hang in our classroom until the last day of school. Next will construct a parallel timeline of our lives.
Then we will jump back thousands of years to early man. We will walk in his shoes through a variety of activities and learn how simple technology crept into their lives. We will continue to trace the development of technology up to the Greek and Roman times.
This year is our second year in our NEW TEXTBOOKS!!! They are wonderful and in order to protect them (we had our last textbooks for over 10 years!) each student will need to bring in a stretchy book cover.
Students can access the textbook online on the Social Studies links page. They can also borrow either a CD or DVD of the book to copy onto their computer if they cannot go online. |

As we jump into science on Team 6D we will learn about what science is along with the steps for the scientific method. We will conduct some simple experiments using to the scientific method.
We will use 4 different books this year, approximately 1 book per quarter. The books cover our changing earth (erosion and deposition), weather, introduction to matter and cells and classification.
There is a link to the Holt textbook site which has been re-designed over the summer. The link is on the science links page. Be sure to check it out! |
