About Jonathon Sleger
|
| This is Jonathon Sleger’s 3rd year at Guilford High School teaching the Technical Theatre classes and has been a teacher in the District for over 20 years. He is a member of the Illinois Theatre Association and the United States Institute of Theatre Technology, in which he has led several workshops dealing with Lighting and Scenic Design. He received his B.S. in Theatre, Speech, and English from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, and his M.F.A. in Scene Design from Illinois State University. Professionally, his designs have been seen at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Illinois Wesleyan University and in several theatres in the Midwest, California, and Great Britain. Over the past 35 years Mr. Sleger has been involved in nearly 200 productions from the High school level through the Professional level as a designer, a “techie”, an actor, or a director. In 1997, he received the ‘Barbizon Award for Theatrical Design Excellence” from the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival. In 2000, he was the Lighting Designer for the Illinois All-State Production and has designed for three All-City productions at the Coronado Theatre. He enjoys backpacking, hiking, kayaking, bicycling, photography, writing and, of course, theatre. |
