What are the classroom RULES |
1. I will treat you with respect, so you will know how to treat me. 2. Feel free to do anything that doesn't cause a problem for anyone else. 3. If you cause a problem, I will ask you to solve it. 4. If you can't solve the problem, or choose not to, I will do something. 5. What I do, will depend on the special person, and the special situation. 6. If you feel something is unfair, whisper to me, "I'm not sure that's fair," and we will talk. |
What are the student expectations? |
1. You will succeed. 2. You will come prepared. 3. You will be on time. 4. You will participate. |
Is it easy to succeed in our class? |
Yes, just do the work and you will succeed. Do not miss any assignments! Take the opportunity to hand in extra-credit assignments every week. |
What if I miss a quiz or assignment? |
It is the student’s responsibility to get missed notes/handouts/work in the event of an absence. Please use the following as a helpful guide:
1. Check the red work folder crate for missed handouts. 2. Ask a friend for missed notes. 3. Check with Mr. Moran if you have any problems or questions! 4. You have one week to make up missed quizzes. |
What are the extra credit assignments? |
Students are able to submit one extra credit assignment each week. The following assignments are acceptable for extra credit:
1. Biographical reports. These reports are to be a minimum of 2-3 paragraphs in length. Choose an environmentalist, scientist, artist, or politician involved in environmental concerns (get approval first) and write each report in your own words. Do not plagiarize.
2. News Article Review. Find an article in a newspaper, magazine, or on the web that relates to an environmental topic, you may write a 2-3 paragraph summary of the article. Please include a copy of the article when you hand it in.
3. Web site review. Review a web site that relates to an environmental issue. Submit a 2-3 paragraph review and a copy of the web address and a printed page of the site. |
How will I know my grade? |
Every student will receive a grade for each week's worth of work. These weekly grades will be averaged over the length of the quarter to get a final grade. Students are to keep track of their own grades every week. Progress reports will be provided. |
Are students allowed to use the bathroom? |
Only in case of emergency. Students are to use the facilities between classes. If a student has a medical condition requiring access to the bathroom he or she must inform Mr. Moran. |
